There are some stories that feel stitched into the landscape itself and Wuthering Heights is one of them. The latest film adaptation has returned to its roots, filmed against the raw, windswept beauty of West Yorkshire, where moorland skies stretch endlessly and stone villages sit quietly beneath the clouds. It’s a setting that doesn’t just frame the story, it breathes life into it.
At the heart of that landscape lies Haworth, the historic home of the Brontë sisters. Walking its cobbled streets, you can almost feel the creative pulse that shaped one of literature’s most enduring love stories. The moors surrounding Haworth, wild, untamed and beautifully unforgiving, were the very inspiration behind Emily Brontë’s original novel.
Just a short bus ride away (B3 Bronte Bus) sits Hebden Bridge, the home of WILD:her, we feel deeply connected to this terrain. We often burst into song and wafting-dance of the Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights track when we're up there. The same hills that frame the new Wuthering Heights film are the ones we walk daily. The same shifting skies, the same dramatic light, the same sense of grounded wildness. There’s something about West Yorkshire that invites you to feel more, to slow down, to breathe deeper, to reconnect. So come and join us on an amble from Hebden Bridge, high onto the moors of Howarth - we'll walk on Cathy and Heathcliffe's footsteps! If you fancy walking from Hebden Bridge to Howarth, it's a good 3 to 4 hour stomp and, if you go a certain way off The Howarth Old Road, you can take in Top Withens (featured in the original book as well as the film) and the Bronte Waterfall.
Filming in here didn't just make sense to the story, it added the true textures of the dry-stone walls, the sweep of heather across the moors, the quiet resilience of the villages. All these characteristics carry a story of strength, solitude, and enduring spirit. These are qualities that resonate far beyond cinema. They’re woven into the culture here, into the people, into the rhythm of life.
For us at WILD:her, being rooted in Hebden Bridge means being part of that lineage of creativity and independence. This is a town known for its makers, its artists, its free thinkers. It’s a place where women-led businesses thrive, where community matters, and where nature is never far away. We draw inspiration from that energy every day — from the wild edges of the moors to the warmth of our local community.
Stories like Wuthering Heights continue to endure as they are rooted in something elemental - wind, earth, longing, love. The same elements that shape life here in West Yorkshire today.
So whether you’re wandering the moors, tracing the footsteps of the Brontës, or discovering independent brands in Hebden Bridge, you’re stepping into a landscape that continues to inspire. Wild. Grounded. Timeless.
